Studyroom

At the Cayan Library, there’s a space for every need: whether it’s meeting with a large or small group, studying individually, working on a paper at a computer, or using one of our many whiteboards to generate ideas for a project – we have a place for you.  During the Fall and Spring Semester, Cayan Library is open 7 days a week.  Food and drinks are welcome throughout.

Seating

Cayan Library offers 200 seats in the Library’s public open areas, all of which have access to natural light and great views.  Reliable wireless networking and power are also abundant throughout, with most seats having access to at least one power outlet.

Over 100 open seats are available on the first floor, which is a dedicated social and group work space.  An additional 100 seats are available on the second floor, which is the dedicated quiet space in the Library.

 

Study & Conference Rooms

Cayan Library also offers 8 group study rooms that can accommodate groups of 4.  An additional 3 large conference rooms that can accommodate 10-12 people are available.

Currently, study rooms and conference rooms are first come, first-served without reservations, except for the 1st-floor conference room.

The 1st-floor computer lab provides access to 50 workstations both PC and Mac.  The Lanigan Room on the second floor, when not being used for Information Literacy instruction, offers an additional 18 workstations and 15 other seats, and typically provides a quiet computer lab space.

 

Room Reservations

The 2nd floor Lanigan computer lab and Mele Room (with room to seat up to 50) can only be reserved for official SUNY Polytechnic Institute events or functions.  The 1st-floor conference room (L144), which can seat 10 people comfortably, can be reserved for study groups and other group meetings.  To request a reservation for any of these spaces, please submit a Room Reservation Form.
