Family Nurse Practitioner

Admission for the Fall '17 semester is closed.  Interested students can now apply for Fall '18.  Application review round 1 for Fall '18 will take place from March 1-12 and if necessary, round 2 will take place from May 10-12.

The 45 credit hour MS Family Nurse Practitioner program is designed to prepare expert advanced practice primary care clinicians capable of providing care to families in primary care settings. The program builds on the undergraduate foundation and develops advanced assessment, planning and evidence-based competence through theoretical understanding and practical application to primary care practice. The program also provides a strong foundation for doctoral study and research.

Clinical expertise is acquired through clinical placements in a variety of public, private, and community based primary care agencies. Students will complete 800 hours of clinical practice.

The program is available in a hybrid format with some coursework available online.

Kathleen Rourke speaks during the white coat ceremonyStudents begin the program in the fall semester and can pursue either full-time or part-time study. Full-time students can complete the program in 4 semesters (taking 12 credits/semester) by following the recommended plan of study. Part-time study will take approximately 8 semesters to complete but can vary depending on your particular course load each semester. Student are required to complete the program within seven years of enrolling.
